Need Help Meditating?

One of the first things I learned from my mentor about developing psychic abilities is the importance of meditating on a regular basis.  But what is meditation? How does one meditate?  Is there a right way or a wrong way to meditate?  These were some of the first questions I wondered….

As a beginner, I would quite often fall asleep about 5 minutes into any meditation, whether it was on my own or with a guided audio meditation.  I would have trouble quieting my mind and I was easily distracted with outside noises.  I didn’t really know what to meditate about or what to do when I was “meditating”.  I was really starting to get frustrated with sitting there and waiting for something magical to happen.  🙂

So, what changed??  Well, I received some great tips from my mentor, but a lot of the help I received came from the book she has just written about meditation.  For me, it came at the perfect time, as most things do.  This book is great for a beginner at meditation, as well as a great refresher for people that have been meditating for years.  It is easy to read and flows really well.

The name of the book is “The Secret of Simple Meditation”, by Tamara Hawk.

In this book  she talks about:

  • How to Meditate
  • Balancing Energy and Chakras
  • Intentions and Affirmations
  • Awareness, plus much more…

I am really glad I read this book as it helped me with putting a step-by-step system system together for doing my meditations.  As a beginner, having a simple system to follow made it so much easier to get into a routine of meditating on a regular basis.  Things are starting to flow better for me, I feel more balanced and I recognize when I am out of balance much faster now.

If you are struggling with your meditating and need some help, then consider reading this book.  I’m so glad I did.

Thanks Tamara!

Reiki Level 1

My husband and I attended a Reiki Level One class on Sunday and we thoroughly enjoyed it.  I had taken Level One last year, but I wanted to go again for a couple of reasons.

The teacher that we chose teaches a more traditional Japenese version of Reiki, which varies a little from the westernized Reiki.  I also wanted to refresh some of the techniques taught to us in level one.  Not to mention that it was a great way to spend some time with Paul (my Husband) on a Sunday afternoon. 🙂

When we started to look for a Reiki teacher we decided to look at different websites and were instantly drawn to Jennifer’s webpage,  Mountain Sky Reiki She has lots of information on her site about herself, her travels and Reiki.  We knew right away that she would be a great teacher for us.

We spent the day learning the true history of Reiki, the 5 precepts, many different healing positions, meditations and treatments for ourselves as well as others.

What I found most interesting was the difference in myself when I compare how I was in this class verses the class last year.  The most noticeable difference was in my hands.  When I received my first attunement last year, I was able to feel a bit of heat in my hands, but that was it.  This time around, I could feel heat, cold, a lot of tingling and even waves of energy at times.  I also noticed that the different colours I am able to see were much more vibrant when doing the self healing.  I was quite surprised and pleased by the end of the class!

Reiki HandsThere could be many reasons for this difference, and I honestly don’t know the answer.  If I were to guess (or use some intuition 😉 ) , I would say that I am much more open to the Reiki healing process now than I was last year, and with that, the energy flowing through me is stronger and more noticeable.

I am really glad I took this class again.  I feel that it is definetly a great stepping stone for anyone  looking to develop any of their natural abilities or even for people looking for alternative healing.

Legacy Of The Divine Tarot Cards

Last week I decided that I wanted to get a deck of Tarot cards to help me with my intuitive development, and I was lucky enough to have my husband offer to get them for me as a Christmas gift.  So, off I went in search for the perfect deck.  After about an hour of looking in different places online I came across the Legacy of the Divine set and was completely amazed at the detailed craftsmanship of these cards.  I knew right away that these cards were the ones for me!

The creator of these cards is Ciro Marchetti and he is truly a master at his craft.  He is originally from the United Kingdom, where he studied art in London, and his career led him through Europe and South America before deciding to settle in the United States.  He has a design agency in Florida where he creates his visions, and he also gives workshops and lectures on digital imagery and illustration at the Fort Lauderdale Art Institute.

Although I have not received the cards yet, I was able to use some pictures from his website so that I can show you just how beautiful these cards are.  Not only are these cards full of symbolism, they have a story behind them.  You can find this story on an interactive website that he has built just for these cards.  That website is www.legacyofthedivinetarot.com.  You are able to get a general feel of the website as a visitor, but in order to experience the full website you’ll need to become a member.  From what I have seen of the site thus far, I definitely plan on becoming a member.

Four more sleeps till Christmas!

Drea’s Intuition Launched!

I knew I was different…

It was about a year ago that I started to become more aware of the fact that there was more to my life than going to a job that I didn’t love and feeling like I had no purpose in life.  I then decided to seriously start my quest into the world of spirituality and intuitive living.  I had started reading books on developing your intuition, but I felt like I needed something more hands on. 🙂 I went to a class on Reiki Energy Healing and completed my Level One Reiki and received my certificate.  This was the start to my journey in intuitive development.   I am really glad I took that course and I think it’s a great way to start out.  I did a lot of self-healing practice and I really started to feel like there was so much more to learn.

At the same time, I was also going to a meditation circle that met once a month and did different meditation exercises, which was really neat too.  I found it a bit overwhelming the first time because I am able to feel the energy of other people fairly well and I wasn’t quite sure on how to block out the energy of the different people at the time.  The second time around was a bit easier on me!  This was another great way for me to start out my development.

About 6 months later I was able to start seeing a mentor regularly and have been seeing her every month since.  We have been working on meditations, self-discovery and other exercises to help develop my intuition.  It has been an amazing couple of months (4-5) so far!  I have learned a lot and I feel like I am growing every day.  I am becoming more and more aware of where my gifts lie.

I am looking forward to blogging about my progress and sharing my stories with you!
